Christmas tree hunting....

Here we go!!
Every year, we get a tag to go up north of Payson into the forest and cut down our own Christmas tree. I did it as a child  and have such great memories of finding each tree :)  So great to make these memories with our wee ones! My parents usually go with us - we just pack 2 trees in the back and then enjoy the day all together..well, this year, my dad was studying for a big final exam....so just Grandma went. It was a great day anyways.

we saw a nice tree off the road and up a hill...so now we are trekking to it!

CHEESE! :)

Grandma assisting Savanna in climbing up the hill...
This is the 1st tree --turns out it was rather flat on one side but gorgeous on the other, so we cut it down!

waiting....

carrying/dragging the tree out...

So one down, one to go. :) So next we got back on the highway and found a small dirt road. It was such an adventure!!!! We had to put the truck in 4X4 and went over some rocks and hills that were so so so much fun! Savvy said "Dad, I call this truck a girl and you can call it a boy. It goes 'bouncy bouncy bouncy bouncy!'" Both the kids LOVED the rough road :) So after driving for 20ish minutes we saw this tree up the leftside hill...about 35 feet.

So Charles cut it down and instead of attempting to carry it down a steep incline, we rolled it down :) like a tree avalanche. Very effective!

Loaded to the hilt with CHRISTMAS TREES!! :)

this is what they did while we got the 2nd tree :)

We had a fabulous adventure!!!

So we get the tre home and discover the truth of the statement in the Christmas tree instruction letter..."tree will look larger in your house than it does in the forest." WOW. We decided to call it "Gigantor." It was 2 feet too tall and HUGE!!!!! At that point, we were just glad to have it in the house and be home. So we left it for the night.
We had a GREAT time....It is priceless to make memories with our kids. I'm so glad this is one of our Christmas traditions!
